‘Mysteries of Metals’ Steam Workshop(Chow Sang Sang Precious Metal Testing Laboratory)
The Gifted Education Team and the Chemistry Department invited Chow Sang Sang Precious Metal Testing Laboratory to conduct 3 themed workshops, primarily focusing on exploring the mysteries of metals. The topics included ‘Alchemy’, ‘Silverware Restoration’ and ‘Gold Panning Experience’. Students combined their knowledge of chemistry to learn about theories related to metals, such as the principles of electrolysis for gold plating, redox reactions of silver, and methods for the extraction of metals. After the theoretical classes, students conducted experiments together, helping them understand that effective learning requires a balance of theory and practice, while also experiencing the joy of completing experiments.
